It was all or nothing at the final showdown on the island of paradise on PokerIsland. On the one hand, it was about claiming the title of the best player on PokerIsland 2009 and on the other, it was about winning an exclusive $25,000 Aussie Millions Package.
The online PokerIsland final took place – as the name suggests – on the online poker felt. And the master of the keyboard and mouse was: dacocor x!
The young German player got the better of his opposition and played his way to the top of the board on PokerIsland. He is now the new man in the bwin Poker team at the Aussie Millions. What does he think about his success? Will he climb to the top of the Aussie Millions tree? And the all-important question: what was it like on PokerIsland?
Congratulations on your win! You are now THE man from PokerIsland 2009. What was your first reaction after taking the win in the PokerIsland online final? dacocor x: Actually, I didn’t make the winning click in the game at all. That was the most exciting part. I knew that I had the nuts in the final hand and had to hope that my opponent called. As soon as I saw “CALL” on the screen, I jumped up from my seat and started cheering – it’s not every day that you win $25,000.
You were on PokerIsland in week 4, the final week. If possible, describe the biggest, unlimited and best highlights. dacocor x: That’s not that easy ... all of the people that I met, the trips, the poker girls, the nightlife – the list goes on and on. It was simply a fantastic week which was organised perfectly by bwin and the team on location.
Describe a “typical” day on PokerIsland. Why is it an absolute MUST for players to qualify for PokerIsland? dacocor x: Because it is exactly how you could live as a professional poker player. Pretty girls, poker, private chef, pool, superb weather – what more could you want?
Your favourite poker player is Jon Juanda – he is a calm player, keeps his cool and makes good decisions. Do you see a little bit of him in dacocor x? dacocor x: Of course, there are certain parallels between me and him, but I would limit that to the ability to make quite a few good decisions. I can’t stay as cool as he can when it comes to “bad beats”.
What are your expectations for the Aussie Millions 2010? Are you ready to join the bwin Poker team for the trip down under? dacocor x: Of course I’m ready! It has been a dream of mine for a very long time to take part in such a massive tournament and now my chance has come. My aim is to cash in – if I make money, I’m happy. If more comes of it, I certainly won’t say no!
You said earlier that you wanted to claim a WSOP bracelet – is a win at the Aussie Millions enough as well? dacocor x: It would certainly be enough to give me the bank balance to play in plenty of tournaments in July, which could give me a shot at a bracelet. An Aussie Millions ring is quite a nice little thing as well, though!
Have you already got any experience playing in offline tournaments? dacocor x: I have played in casinos a couple of times and there were one or two big tournaments there, but you can’t compare that to a tournament like the Aussie Millions, that would be presumptuous. It will be by far the biggest tournament that I have ever played in during my career so far.
Does the winne r of PokerIsland 2009 have a message for the rest of the poker world? dacocor x: Play, play, play! Preferably at my tables!!!
We have a PokerIsland 2009 winner!

Finally we have a winner – after a breathtaking online final between our 4 weekly final winners: Denis, Paul, Charly and Michael.
Starting with 4.000 chips each and very slow blind raises Paul made a kind of semi aggressive approach and raised his stack up to app. 5.500.Charly was the first one who stepped into Pauls trap and had to leave the table as the first contestant.
Paul now as the massive chip leader left the remaining two almost no air to breath. Michael took his chances kicked out Denis and we watched a furious heads up between England and Germany.
So this time Germany wins the battle and Michael will join the next Aussie Millions!
Congratulations Michael! Your PokerIsland Team
