French takeover
Thursday, 25 June 2009 13:21
It was the
third and last Morning Poker of week 2. The guys were clubbing at night, maybe
that’s why it was a very tight game. Jurij was the first one, winning a
mentionable pot playing his hand. Then, blinds were at 20/40, Jorn’s time had
come, winning with a fullhouse against Gregor and next hand beating Denis
straight with a flush on the river.
Blinds at 30/60 and the French fought back. The flop came down with 5/4/3, Jorn
raised 200 and Denis called. On the turn 2 Denis bet 200 and Jorn called. Let’s
see the river: 7 and Denis bet 400, Jorn reraised 2000 and Denis went all in –
Jorn called! So Denis with 8/6 hitting the 8 high straight while Jorn only had
a 6 and got smashed.
Blinds were 40/80 and we had a first decision. The board showed 2h/3s/7d/5s and
Gregor went all in. Jurij called! So showdown guys! Gregor with baby ace (A/4)
in his hand but Jurij with 8/4 of spades. On the river Qs Jurij hit the flush
and kicked Gregor out of the game!
Four players left: Blinds 100/200 and quite a while nothing really happend.
Till Harald went all in pre flop with A/J and Jurij called with K/Q. In the
end, the board showed 7/5/Q/3/7 and the Austrian had to say Goodbye.
Next blindlevel 100/200, next decision: Denis raising pre flop 3000 and Jorn
took the bate and called. Denis with As/2s vs J/J by Jorn. Even if Jorn hit the
triple on the river! He got smashed by Denis’s flush (Ah/9s/8s/Kc/Js) on the
river! So the Swiss guy had to leave the table – for today.
Heads up
between Denis (8100) and Jurij (6900). From blind level 300/600 till 1000/2000
the game just went back and forth – raise and fold for a very long time. Then
Denis went all in again with 5820 and finally Jurij took heart and called. The
French guy kicked his Q/7 with A/8 (J/J/5/10/A) and next hand he finally sealed
Jurij’s fate. Jurij went all in with 7/2 vs Denis’ A/7. In the end the board
came down with A/6/Q/3/7. And that was the end for Jurij! But a great start for
Denis tomorrow! Congratulations Denis!

Swiss stock is rising on PokerIsland
Wednesday, 24 June 2009 13:19
It was the second Morning Poker of week 2. And today, everybody was awake and eager
to win. But nevertheless it was the tightest game we had so far.Blinds started at 10/20. Jurij caught a
nice bluff by Harald and won the first big pot of the day. And Jurij kept on
playing. On the river Qd, the board showed 10d/Qc/5d/10s, Gregor bet 300, Jurij
reraised 1100 and Gregor called with Jd/4d hitting a flush! But Jurij with A/Q
smashed him with a nice fullhouse!
So far, yesterday’s winner Jorn slept away the game. Blinds by now were
100/200, still five players in the game.Denis with 1200, Gregor 1540, Harald 4460, Jorn with 2100 and Jurij chip
leader with 6700. And finally we had some action! First Denis doubled up
against Harald. Next hand, again Denis played for the gain. The flop came down
with J/2/6 and Gregor went all in with 9/A against the calling French with J/K.
On the turn J Denis hit the triple. And the river 8 didn’t save Gregors soul.
Goodbye Gregor! First player down.
Blinds were at 200/400. And finally Jorn started playing doubling up against
Denis. Then Harald doubled up against Jorn with A/5 against A/8 by Jorn hitting
a pair of 5s on the flop. On the next level 300/600 we had the next decision.
Denis went all in with 1860 and Jorn called with 10h/8h vs Denis’ K/J. On the
flop 8/3/Q Jorn hit the pair. Turn 3 and river A didn’t change a thing. So
Denis had to leave the table.
Three players left in the game. Harald with 3020, Jurij 5640 and Jorn now
chipleader with 6340. But not for long. The board showed 4/10/9/7/8 and „Double
Up“ Harald doubled up again smashing Jurij’s 10/Q with 6/2 in his hand and a
straight on the river. Next hand, blinds now at 400/800, Jurij’s fate was
sealed. He lost with pocket 6 against Harald’s German virgin (9/9).
Heads Up Harald 8100 and Jorn with 6900 chips left to play. Blinds still were
at 400/800 and Jorn again made the race. First doubling up against Harald and
next hand going all in again with A/A against Haralds pocket 6. On the board,
the lucky Swiss even hit another ace. Really, no chance for Harald today. And
Jorn left the table with another chip upgrade for Friday. Congratulations!

Swiss hardcore
Tuesday, 23 June 2009 11:51
Blinds 10/20. And nothing happened. It was a really tight game. The highest of
highs was one turn - till last hand in this level. The board showed J/2/6/A. Denis
raised 300, Jorn reraised 1300 and Denis called. On the river: 3, Jorn bet all
in and Denis called. So showdown guys: Denis with J/A vs Jorn’s route 66 (6/6).
What a early out for the French guy! And what a nice double up for the Swiss
guy.
Jorn kept on playing strong, winning a nice hand with a flush against Jurij.
But till blind level 50/100, the game crept on. But finally, we had the next
decision. On the board 9/J/7/7 Juri went all in. And guess who took heart and
called? Jorn with A/J against Jurij’s A/Q. So down the river we go: 10. And
Jorn kicked the next player off the table. Same level Jorn the Hellraiser went on. Gregor called on the small blind but
Jorn raised 600. Gregor reraised 3230 going all in – and of course the Hellraiser called with Q/A in his hand against Gregor’s J/8. In the end on the board we
had 7/9/K/K/2. And the next Player was smashed by Jorn.
Heads Up between Harald (2040) and Jorn (12960) and blinds were at
200/400.The game went back and
forth for a while till finally Jorn called on of Harald’s all ins. Jorn with
A/9 vs Harald’s Q/6. So dealer, show us the flop: 8/J/9. Now the turn: 3. And
the river: K. Congratulations Jorn. What a massive start by Switzerland!
Here they are! Boys, let's go!

New Wallpapers

Just in time and to pimp your computer desktop, we developed some new desktop wallpapers for you. Adopted by the new PokerIsland logo, two of the wallpapers are just very very very (if not to say VERY) minimalistic! So the "Mirrored" and the "Stencil" wallpapers are just perfect to find your computer icons quickly, while the "darkstyle" certainly might suit those among us that like it dark while playing online poker.
The links beneath this text offer you ZIP files containing several images of each wallpaper offering different sizes to fit your screen resolutions. The old wallpapers from 2008 can still be downloaded from the main navigation through the "PokerIsland 2008" link.
