2nd Morning Poker of the week an Pim hit the stack!

Dutch Master’s Day
Wednesday, 17 June 2009 14:27

2nd Morning Poker of week 1. It seemed, the guys had a really nice night. A little bit bleary-eyed, but eager to win the chip upgrade for Friday. Well, except one. Paul tried everything to get back to sleep – or maybe it was his new tactic...

Blinds at 10/20. First hand, Paul went all in. The others folded. 2nd and 3rd hand: same scenario. Finally, forth hand, Patrice took the challenge and called. Paul with 7/2 and Patrice with 6/Q in his hand. The board showed J/3/Q/8/3. And Patrice doubled up quite easily. Still Paul was more alive than he had hoped. So next hand again, All in Paul made his move. This time Pim earned some chips and Paul legged it to bed.

Blind level 30/60, we had the next decision. After a tough raise battle Marc and Pim both went all in. Marc showing J/A but Pim in favor with pocket Q. Already on the flop: A/J/Q, Pim hit the triple. Turn and River 2/6 didn’t help yesterdays winner! Goodbye Marc!

Meanwhile, blinds were 50/100. Pim with 8000 chips, Patrice 5000 and Vilnis 2000. Lady Luck really wasn’t on Vilnis side today. He kept on folding and folding. But then he took heart and called. Pim raised 350 putting Vilnis all in. The Latvian with K/7 against Pim’s Q/K. The flop showed J/A/K. The turn: 3. And on the river: 10, Vilnis was smashed by Pim’s beautiful straight!

Heads up between Pim (10000) and Patrice (5000). Blinds at 100/200. In the beginning, the game went back and forth. Stealing blinds, raise and fold. Till Pim bet 500 pre flop and Patrice went all in. No question, Pim called with pocket 7 against Patrice 5/K of diamonds. The board showed 6/K/5/2/K – and Patrice hit a Fullhouse and doubled up. But Pim was still alive. And came back big time. Pim raised pre flop 1000, Patrice reraised all in and Pim called. So guys, show your hands: Patrice with J/7 and Pim with A/Q. On the flop, 4/5/7, Patrice hit a pair. But on the turn: Q, Pim made the race. So down the river we go: Q. A triple for Pim!

And a chip upgrade for Fridays final! Congratulations Pim.

It was the first Morning Poker of their life. In the end Marc, the Canadian Shark, made the race.

Again, a Canadian took it all

We had our first Morning Poker of season 09. All of us were quite excited. The tension was high and the five players gathered around the big bwin pokertable. Hes, our PokerIsland Dealer, opened up the pokerchallenge.

Five Player: Paul (UK), Pim (Netherlands), Vilnis (Latvia), Marc (Canada) and Patrice (Belgium). 3000 Chips each and the winner of the game gets a 500 chips upgrade for the final on Friday.
We had a real cautious start here today. Blinds started with 10/20. It took a while till Marc started playing quite aggressive. But nobody accepted the challenge till Vilnis took heart. The flop showed 10/2/5 and Marc did bet 100, Vilnis called. On the turn we got an A, Marc again placed a 200 bet – Vilnis called. So down the river we go: 9. 400 bet by Marc, Vilnis raised to 1000 and Marc reraised all-in. Vilnis called! So showdown guys: Vilnis with A/9 – two pair! But Marc with 3/4 hit the straight! Still Vilnis was alive with 180 left – and kicking. Another all-in later he smashed Marc with a nice Fullhouse in return.

Blinds were at 20/40 and we had the first decision. On the flop: J/J/7. Pim raised 220, Paul on the other hand reraised up to 600 and Pim went all-in – Paul called with J/Q against Pim’s 7/10. The Q on the turn killed Pim’s last chance and the dutch guy was first to leave the table.
Meanwhile the blinds were at 50/100 and Vilnis was the next victim. Patrice ruined his pair of Queens by a Fullhouse. Goodbye Vilnis!

By now Marc was chipleader with 8000 followed by Paul with 5000 and Patrice with 2000 Chips. And Patrice final hand really came fast. Marc raised pre flop 600. Patrice reraised 1000 and Marc went all in. Patrice didn’t hesitate and called with Ks/6c against Marc’s pocket 8 (c/h). The flop showed 2s/5h/Jh. Turn: 3h. And the river: 6h. Marc hit the flush and Patrice took off.
Heads up between Marc and Paul. And both were about stack even. Paul started very aggressive, going all in 6 times in a row. But Marc just folded and folded.

Blinds were 200/400 and finally, we got action. Pre flop now Marc went all-in with 6330 chips left. And Paul called with Q/3 against Marc’s A/5. Now gentlemen, here is the flop: 5/8/8. The King on the turn didn’t help Paul at all. And the river: 9, sealed his fate. Next hand, next all in. Marc with 10/K and Paul with 2/J. In the end, we had 7/4/3/6/A on the table. Congratulations Marc! Remember Ryan? The Canadian? Winner of last years PokerIsland? It seems the Canadians are hard to beat on PokerIsland!

Finally, the first five players arrived
Tuesday, 16 June 2009 01:13

group.jpgIt took the whole day for the five players to arrive at the villa. As the PokerIsland shuttle drove back and forth to the airport, our PokerIsland Girls already enjoyed the luxury of PokerIsland - and by the time all players landed at the villa, we had a nice pokerparty going on.

While a short poker game, the player sorted out in which room they will enjoy the next days. The winner of course, our youngster Vilnis – also known as Vilnisvilnis from Latvia, rocks the table while relaxing at the master bedroom.

The other player: Patrice (Belgium), Marc (Canada), Pim (Netherlands) and Paul (UK), not less excited about their rooms, weren’t really disappointed. They just had a great time meeting each other, the girls – and exploring the PokerIsland villa.

Tomorrow, the PokerIsland Season 09 truly starts with some serious poker in the morning and a great day at the beach. So stay tuned for more!

A big excuse to everybody trying to watch the live stream today. We had serious problems with the cable connection coming from the mainland. But don’t worry, we will sort it out. Enjoy!
